Michael Francis
The Postmasters
08 May 2009

We decided we quite like what the .NET team have done with their Managed Heap, so we thought we'd join in the fun, find an excuse to write silly biographies for ourselves, and put some names to faces.

We’re the Exchange team at Red Gate; the brains behind the Exchange Server Archiver. We’re made up of 3 Developers, 3 Testers, and our very own Technical Author, Brand manager, Product Manager, Usability Specialist / Divisional Head and army-of-one salesman. No, those last few aren't all the same person.

Clockwise: Matt, Elizabeth, Clive, Michael, Chris, Lionel, Richard, Rob, Reka, Jonathan, Marine & Heather

Clive TongDeveloper Clive has been known to beat some of the other team members at table tennis. Good looking and smart, if only Clive could drive a go-kart faster than walking pace.
Robert Chipperfield Sysadmin Network Simple-TalkTechnical LeadSpends his days trying to convince Exchange and Outlook to behave, but by night is often found playing with radio aerials or entangled in a mass of wires. Often asks people to go to his car to see his large mast.
Lionel Clarke Simple-TalkCode MonkeyLionel tries to cultivate an impression of being difficult and angry young man in the hope that the testers will leave him alone. He dreams of being able to find his car keys which are under one of the piles on his desk so he can finally go home and stop sleeping under his desk.
Richard Mitchell Simple-TalkProject Manager Scary biker and professional cat herder. Is addicted to the bacon in the Red Gate canteen and being beaten at table tennis by pretty much everybody else.
Elizabeth Ayer Sysadmin NetworkProduct Manager The resident American, we wheel her out when male SysAdmins approach.
Marine Barbaroux - Team Leader Called M or Dark Lord by the team, she is not afraid to participate in nerf gun raids against the DBA division if required.
Chris Bacon - Sales Guy - Likes a glass of fine Port and the occasionaly surf. Loves his PS3 and has a love/hate relationship with computers.
Reka Burmeister Simple-Talk - Tester - Reka plays squash a lot and in her spare time she’s making ESA cry. Her favourite sentence is most probably “Rob help!?” since the cheeky genius helps her more or less continuously.
Jonathan Watts Sysadmin Network - Tester - Tries to pretend he isn't a geek - but with pockets full of gadgets, 15 cameras, 5 pdas and a lifetime subscription to sci fi magazine isn't convincing anyone.
Heather Fielding Simple-Talk - Wordsmith - In a world of waffle, she wields the pen of truth.
Michael Francis Sysadmin Network Simple-Talk - Brand Manager - Our resident marketing story teller. Described by Reka as being plump and unathletic, 5 minutes before she thrashed him 4-0 at squash.
Matt Flatt - Support Engineer - The support guru, still smarting after finishing *only* 2nd (out of 16!) at karting.
