SQL Prompt 3 - All Quiet On The Western Front?

Published Thursday, August 03, 2006 1:36 PM

Well no actually. After maintaining a stance of silence bordering on outright evasiveness for some weeks now, it seems about time to say something. SQL Prompt 3 Beta will be going out at the end of next week; actually some time on Friday 11th August. And hopefully not too late I might add, given that it is after all a Friday.

If you want to have a play with this early incarnation of the new version of the tool get yourself along to http://www.red-gate.com/MessageBoard/viewtopic.php?t=2567 and follow the instructions for beta programme registration (which basically consists of sending me an email, so it's not too much hassle). We'll contact you directly as soon as the beta is available.

We're hoping the beta is something you'll find incredibly useful in itself, although it's by no means going to be anywhere near feature complete. I'll post a full list of what's in, what's missing but will appear in the final release, and any known issues along with the download. We'd also really like to hear what you think of some of the innovations we've added to make SQL intellisense that bit more manageable, particularly for those of you dealing with databases with larger schemas. I don't want to let the cat out of the bag though so if you're interested in finding out more get yourself registered as part of the beta programme before it goes out next Friday.

About Bart Read

I've had a few jobs since graduating, but for the last four years I've been settled at Red Gate Software in Cambridge, UK. Over that time I've worked on a wide range of products, both as a developer and as a project manager, including 18 months on SQL Prompt; right now I'm finishing up with ANTS Profiler 4, which we think is going to be amazing - hopefully you will too.
